Remembering The ALS Association of Georgia in your Will or Living Trust
Many friends of the ALS Association of Georgia, Inc. (ALSA of GA) make a gift of lasting significance through their will or living trust.
Your gift can be designated for one or more of ALSA of GA’s programs: advocacy, patient services, education and awareness, or research. However, a gift not designated for a specific program allows ALSA of GA maximum flexibility in meeting the changing needs of the ALS community.
If you believe your estate may be subject to federal estate taxes, remember there is no limit to the amount that can be left to charity and deducted from your estate.
All gifts made through your will, trust, or other type of estate plan can be a meaningful way to celebrate the life of a loved one.
Consider discussing with your legal counsel the following types of bequests:
Giving a specific dollar amount
Giving a percentage of your estate
Giving the “residue” of your estate after providing for Family and loved ones
Giving personal property or a specific parcel of real estate
To prevent delays in honoring your wishes, it is important to provide your attorney with the correct legal name and address for The ALS Association of Georgia, Inc.. The correct legal name and address is The ALS Association of Georgia, Inc., 1955 Cliff Valley Way, Suite 116, Atlanta, Georgia 30329. The Chapter’s tax ID number, which some attorneys request, is 58-1943490.
A sample bequest provision might read:
“I bequeath [here state the specific dollar amount, percentage, property, or residue] to The ALS Association of Georgia, Inc. currently headquartered in Atlanta, GA to be used or disposed of as The Association in its sole discretion deems appropriate.”
