The ALSA of Georgia AugCom "loaner closet"

PURPOSE: To provide a device (free of charge) when PALS is receiving Hospice care, has used their MDA grant or has an insurance funded device they can no longer access.

  • We have an inventory of speech devices, software and different access methods available to loan to PALS
  • PALS loaned equipment is available for as long as they need it. It will not be called back in.
  • If a PALS is waiting on an insurance funded device and has an urgent need we can give them a device while they wait.
  • We can also "Adapt" your current insurance funded device so you can access it in different ways as mobility changes.
  • If a PALS is not "medically eligible" for a speech device, but has problems accessing a computer we can provide software to help them.

IMPORTANT NOTE! - If a PALS enrolls in Hospice care, insurance coverage for many items will cease immediately. It is very important (especially if you’re waiting on delivery of a power wheelchair or a speech device) that if possible you wait for the receipt of the device BEFORE enrolling in Hospice!
