A diagnosis of ALS can be overwhelming, confusing, and scary. People who have recently received a diagnosis of ALS often have questions about the disease, the prognosis and the treatments available. We highly recommend that the patient seek a second opinion.
If the diagnosis is confirmed, then we encourage the patient, caregiver, or family member to contact our organization. They may make this contact with one of our Patient Service Providers at Emory or Medical College of Georgia, where second opinions appointments often occur. Through our services and programs, we can assist in many ways.
New Patient Support Group Meeting A new support group meeting will take place for Newly Diagnosed ALS patients and for those in the early stages of ALS at the ALS Association of Georgia Office. This meeting is targeted to patients who have been diagnosed in the last 6 months to be an essential tool in helping patients and their caregivers, families and friends live with ALS. Contact Crystal Jackson at crystal@alsaga.org or 404-636-9909 for additional information.
